What can I do to make my stomach ulcer feel better?!

Question: I take Prilosec OTC twice a day (insurance companies now refuse to pay for prescription strength due to the cost). This has helped to alleviate my symptoms. Cut back on use of any ibuprofen and aspirin-based pain relievers and use Tylenol only as needed (too much Tylenol can cause fluctuations in liver function tests). Avoid caffeine. At the times when it flares up really bad, have a bottle of Mylanta or Maalox handy, this should ease the pain of the ulcer(s); if it does not, seek medical attention.

Good luck.

I smoked weed and that helped!
I was never hungry either and that helped me eat.

you should take esomeprazole, it's a proton pump inhibitor taken to reduce or completely inhibit the release of hydrochloric acid, the secondary culprit in the development of stomach and intestinal ulcer. you may also add to that an antibiotic if the cause of your stomach ulcer is helicobacter pylori infection, this is the most common cause of ulcers. if the pain is unbearable or is really bothering you, go see a gastroenterologist. he will perform an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, a tiny fiberoptic tube would be inserted to your GI tract thru your mouth to be able to visualise the extent of ulceration there is in your stomach and treatment be initiated early before perforation and hemorrhage, complications of ulcers occur. also avoid drinking soda as these contain carbonic acid, adding to the your stomach's HCl acid and do not binge eat. small frequent meals should accompany your medication regime. don't rely too much on self medication though, go see a doctor.

First of all, see your doctor. Ulcers can be a very dangerous condition if they perforate which they can do with little or no warning. They are caused by a bacterial infection which can be detected with a simple blood test.

The traditional remedy was Zantac which is now an over-the-counter drug. Modern treatments use antibiotics and, sometimes, Zantac.

I nearly died when my ulcer perforated and the resulting damage required seven major operations to sort out my internal organs which had been partly digested by the escaping gastric juices.

Again, I must emphasise the importance of seeing your GP.

Good luck!
