This is one tidbit many people don't remember. This is not just a female virus but men do carry the Antigen virus as well so get tested. Keep your immune system healthy at all times. A good immune system will get rid of any viruses. Once you get HPV, that Antigen stays in your blood for many years or until you die. As for the warts thats part of the HPV. The best way to avoid the warts is never have stress in your life. Always wear a condom either female or male kind. You can only have 3 LEEPS to remove the HPV. As for the warts there's no cure for it. As these warts are Genital warts from the HPV. If you cannot get rid of the virus than a Total Hysterectomy is your only treatment with continous pap smears. Remember each woman is different. That virus can be gone forever if you take good care of your immune system. My neice had it when she was 18. She's now 22 and no HPV but that doesn't mean she'll get it when she's 50. The older your body gets the harder for the immune system to stay healthy. So, whatever your age is keep your health in good spirits. No drinking or smoking. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits. Take multivitamins. Stay healthy. A friend of mine had a Total Hysterectomy done on Dec 17, 2007 due to HPV and she's 46 which she's been dealing with it for 6 years before the surgery. Its your options but keep up with the Paps, your health and read more about HPV. There are about 100 sequence numbers for the HPV virus in your immune system. My friend had about 30 viruses which were mild (dyplasia in the cervix) but still that HPV can cause cancer in the long run if not taken care of properly so with good nutrition and necessary paps your chances are about average. One more thing to remember HPV is STD so have your partner get tested cuz his/her Antigen keeps reinfecting your immune system. HPV is not curable only maintained.

I've never had them but have learned about them in nursing school.
Since it's a virus they never go away. They may just become latent (undetected). I guess there is a new way that some physicians are using and that is to freeze the warts off. I would try consulting a women's health physician and see if he or she can do anything for you.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) NEVER goes away. about 75-80% of the world population has it. if you are a woman, it can lead to all sorts of horrific problems. keep watch - meaning, get your pap smears REGULARY. active break outs can be burned/frozen off by your doctor. (this is a VERY old technique NOT new)

You really need to talk to your Doctor about this. No one here can tell you how to take care of your self and anyone that does tell you is stupid for doing so. You Need to see your Doctor get examine and you Doctor will tell you what treatment will be best for your body, your condition and for your medical history. Just talk to your Doctor he/she is the only one you need to listen to and get a second opinion if you feel the need.
