I do eat Low Carb and Sugar Free......

You are doing great! As long as you keep low carb low sugar you should not develope any symptons. 5.4 is good as it suggests that your average 3 month blood sugar is 115. This can still be better for optimum health. Some of the main things for optimal health are...

Exercise! This helps maintain your blood sugar and a healthy weight. This includes cardio and weight lifting.

Water! Can not live without it. You should consume half your body weight in ounces for the body to carry out everyday duties and utilize vitamins and minerals.

Low Carbs! Very important as this will reduce chances of diabetes and other diseases. THis doesnt include fiber though which you want to try to consume abouut 30-35 grams a day mostly from vegetables.

Supplementation! Its important to take a good multivitamin made from real food, not "one a day" or "centrum" as these types are made in labs and the body only absorbs a small amount as opposed to ones made form real food which the body understands. Also, supplement with fish oil. Omega 3 is almost non existant in the american diet these days. You can also east fish and walnuts as they are high in omega 3.

Good luck and happy healthy living!

no symptoms until a blood glucose over 160.. than you would urinate frequently and be thirsty... over 200 or so fatigue, over 300 or 400 drowsy higher may be coma
HgbA1C 5.4 is normal and even low... you are not diabetic... (or very well controlled) over 6 is high... and indicate a constant elevation ... you are healthy.. stay healthy good luck
addendum: I love the thumb down somebody gave me..when I am an internist specialized in diabetes and I am a diabetic educator

Great A1C! If your blood sugar is too high at any one time ,you might feel dizzy, sleepy, sweaty, angry, hot and hungry.
Some of these can also mean you're low so check you're blood sugar before you eat.

You are OK. Still, it's a good practice to not consume too much sugar. Regular exercises support your metabolism as well.
