Hi,
Yeah, it does sound like he has chicken pox ! Kids can get it more than once, and the severity of the spots is different for every child ! My oldest son only had a few spots, while my youngest was literally covered from head to toe !
Also, every child has slightly different symptoms, ie one may have a sore throat , someone else may not.
I wouldn't worry too much, just put calamine lotion on the spots to stop them being itchy and he'll be fine .

sounds to me like a minor case of the chickenpox...and it also sounds to me like you need to go get another doctor...he sounds so uneducated!!!

Possibility of MEASLES

It may be scarlet fever if its not chicken pox, because that will cause red dots to.
But dont worry they have medicine for that now, I had it like three months ago with pnumonia(Im not sure how to spell it)

does sound like chicken pox they start behind the ears and on stomach

My children had mild fevers.

measles usually start behind the ears
chickenpox look like small blisters

Yes you can get chicken pox more than once if the first dose was very mild - it means not enough immunity was built up to the virus.
If the spots are pink/red, raised and start to form fluid filled blisters, then it's chickenpox. They come out in crops suddenly on any area of the body and they're not always extremely itchy, but usually are.

Wait until the morning and check out his spots again - if they have started to bubble like a sunburn blister with some sort of clear liquid inside then you have got yourself a little bundle of "joy" that will keep you on your toes for the next 12 days. My children just went through all of this - conveniently one after the other !!! THE BEST THING I FOUND WAS POLARAMINE FROM THE CHEMIST - IT IS AN OLD FASHIONED ANTI HISTAMINE - VERY EFFECTIVE TO STOPPING THE ITCHING FROM THE INSIDE - YOU SQUIRT THE MEASURED DOSE INTO THEIR MOUTH LIKE LIQUID PANADOL - SOMETIMES IT WILL MAKE THEM SLEEPY - BUT IT CERTAINLY SETTLES THEM DOWN FROM THAT INSANE DESIRE TO SCRATCH. We also put rolled oats in an old but clean odd sock in the bath and tied it up with a rubber band. The wetter it gets the more "cream" comes out and it also helps with the blisters/ then later scabs to dry up and not itch. Good luck love - and have some lollipops on hand to coerce the little pumpkin into taking the medicine and having a soak in the bath - my two were so incredibly "out of sorts" it really did test my patience and reasoning/negotiating skills. Have the spots got yellow heads? If so they'll dry up, go crusty and fall off. Do not let your little one scratch or pick them, especially ones on their face, as they will get a scar.
Spots that look like this are most likely chicken pox. My two had flu like symptoms before the spots came out.
Spots that have no such head could be anything from measles or scarlet fever, to just what the doctors call an unidentified viral rash.
As long as your little one feels OK in himself he should be fine.
Hope this helps
