It feels like there is food stuck in my throat.?!

Question: I ate dressing for dinner. It had a crust on it. Later that night, I got sick and threw it up. Well now it feels like there is a piece of it still in my throat. I sound horse when I talk and caugh. Should I go to the doctor? Or will it eventually go away?

Sounds like some food may have gone down the wrong tube. Instead of going down the esophagus, it may have gone down the larynx. If you have any difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, or it persists for more than a few days, I recommend seeing your primary care doctor. Often, the food will disintegrate via the help of neutrophils and macrophages (which are types of white blood cells) over the course of a few days.

drink something!!

If it keeps up or you feel like it's interfering with your breathing you should go to the doctor, but you may have just irritated or scratched your throat.

You've probably scratched your throat through throwing up, because when you scratch your throat in one way or another it really does feel like there's something in there. Hope fully that's all it is, but if I were you I'd get to the doctor straight away.

sometimes food scratches the back of your throat, and since you threw up, that adds stress to your throat. it will cause hoarseness, and will eventually go away when the tissue heals. give it about 5 days, and if its still feeling that way, go to the doc.
