Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection caused by a germ called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attack the lungs, but they can also damage other parts of the body. TB spreads through the air when a person with TB of the lungs or throat coughs, sneezes or talks. If not treated properly, TB can be deadly. You can usually cure active TB by taking several medicines for a long period of time. People with latent TB can take medicine so that they do not develop active TB.
Symptoms of TB in the lungs may include:
A bad cough that lasts 3 weeks or longer
Weight loss
Coughing up blood or mucus
Weakness or fatigue
Fever and chills
Night sweats

go to www.cdc.gov and look it up: tuberculosis. It's not a good thing to have.

Check this link below: Hope things go okay for you and your dad. Correct spelling so you can do some research is turberculosis. Good luck

Tuberculosis is a type of infection on the lung tissue. If it gets out of hand, then the tissue becomes very infected, and SOMETIMES the person with it will cough up blood from the damage it does to the lung.

It IS curable, and the fact that the hospital discovered it at all is very good. There are different types of medication for the different levels of TB, and its good that your Dad's conditions have been noticed. Good luck, and ill keep you in my thoughts.

When the us was in the industrial age, this disease was very common. The cure to the disease back then was to quarintine the people who had it. Luckily though, today there are antiBiotics to help relieve this fault. Tuberculosis is abbreviated as TB for tubercle bacillus. It's where you cough up gunk from your lungs randomly.

Sorry to hear about your Dad, speak to a nurse or the doctor or your Mom about any questions you may have.

"What is tuberculosis?

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by bacteria whose scientific name is Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB most commonly affects the lungs but also can involve almost any organ of the body. Many years ago, this disease used to be called "consumption" because without effective treatment, these patients often would waste away. Today, of course, tuberculosis usually can be treated successfully with antibiotics.

There is also a group of organisms referred to as atypical tuberculosis. These involve other types of bacteria that are in the Mycobacterium family. Often, these organisms do not cause disease and are referred to a "colonizers," because they simply live alongside other bacteria in our bodies without causing damage. At times, these bacteria can cause an infection that sometimes appears as typical tuberculosis."

TB is an infection of the lungs caused by the tubercle bacillus bacteria. It is transmitted from person to person through respirations, coughing, etc. It tends to strike in overcrowded OR unsanitary places. It can be treated with meds and rest.

Well, all I know of it is that Edgar Allan Poe's Mother and Wife had it and it is very hard to get over back then but now they have all the medicine and stuff. It was called consumption because it is a disease of the lungs. I did a report so that's why I know. Your dad is in my prayers.
