It can be caused by skin condition, in which case a mild steroid cream may provide some relief.
the most common cause is probably mild haemorrhoids, in which case the best treatment is to eat lots of fibre and use a cream that has a local anaesthetic. The cream will only provide topical relief though. If you want to get rid of it all together, change your diet so that you're eating the fibre: fruits and vegetables, whole grain bread - avoid white bread and rice, also stay away from bananas. If you do this for a week or so you will notice a _big_ improvement. Also, don't sit on anything thats not padded for long periods of time as this will aggrivate them.
