What you describe sounds like palpitations.

Occassional palpitations are normal, everyone has them.

Frequent palpitations, we look for underlying causes. Serious heart conditions are relatively rare in your age group if you have no history of them.

Possible causes: Look first at the amount of stimulants in you diet. Caffeine is a biggie. Coffee, Mt. Dew, Colas, energy drinks all have caffeine or caffeine-like substances. Over the counter diet pills are also known to give people palpitations. If you cut-out any or all of these in your diet, your palpitations will probably go away.

If you are still having them after several days off these substances, see your doctor.

too much sodium?

do you drink a lot of caffine? this could be the problem, my brother has been in the hospital a few times for irregulated heart conditions. they told him to lay off the caffiene for a while and they would see if tht made a difference. matter of fact it happened to be an irregular beat because of stress and too much cafiene

Maybe a heart murmur. You need to see a dr, unless you smoke or drink. If you do either, you are interferring with your bodies muscle contractions and you need to stop. (Or under/overeating or drug use)

These are caled heart palpitations and should be treated very seriously!

It could be an anxiety attack, caffeine or nicotene related but it could also be a sign of an impending heart attack or a heart attack that has happenned that you may have not been aware of (a silent myocardial infarction). I would see a doctor.

If they are asociated with, chest pain, nausea, shortness of breath, left arm or jaw pain/tingles or sweating i would go to an ER now!

Has this stopped since you have stopped drinking so much caffeine. If it has not you need to get it checked out with a doctor.
