Is there a name for people who compete to be the "most" ill?!

Question: Know anyone who who tries to persuade you they are the most handicapped? They talk Xrays, torn cartilage, ligaments, tendons, surgery, nerve damage and more. Do they make you feel like your a judge?

I know two people who are like this. There was litigation in both cases, and they spent a great deal of time talking and persuading people about their infirmities. Now, they can't seem to stop.

They both seem to be on a death trajectory. She smokes every cigarette she can afford. She practically dares her live-in to kill her every day. (He was arrested for harboring illegal weapons--he's definitely capable).

The other competitor barely moves. He never exercises, stretches or does much of anything except sit all day. But he will gladly tell you all of his conditions and problems.

Is there a psychological name for this condition? What percentage of Americans have it?

It's not hypochondria as you describe it because they are real symptoms and litigation is involved.
It sound more like the characteristics of narcissistic or borderline personality disorder. They are very competitive.

As for the 2nd person, he sounds very depressed and somatisizing.

I don't know the % who have it.

Try Googling: Mayo clinic>>diseases & conditions.

It's called stupidity!

hypochondriac
