Coldsore treatment?!

Question: My poor Mum suffers from coldsores and has just developed 3 painful ones at once!

Does anybody out there have any tried and true remedies that she can try for getting rid of them fast? I have her on L-Lysine vitamin tabs at the moment but they're more of a long term treatment..

Thanks!!!! :o)

I take one 400 mg echinacea pill a day and i get the beginnings of a cold sore but they never develop. also she can try using tea tree oil on them(a natural antiseptic) she can apply with a q-tip several times a day. also she can either get over the counter stuff like herpacin-L,abreva,etc or she can have a dr write a prescription. cold sores can be cause by ,exposure to the sun and or cold, a virus or cold, changes in her body (hormones, etc) and stress can cause them and a low immune system. my son gets them really bad and he uses the tea tree oil and an echinacea pill (one a day for like 3-4 days) and usually his heals up fine

valtrex, prescription only.

put a mixture of vinegar and white wine, add tobasco and it sounds painful but i swear by it! good luck

Wash your mouth out with salt.

Try keeping them covered in Carmex. They go away fast.

valtrex.

I'm only posting this because the first person had it right in my opinion / experience. That is what the doc's would prescribe when money wasn't an issue. If you need it, you need it.

Try the source below. It discusses cold sore cures and treatment.
