Question: when should you get your tonsils taken out?

I hawe had scarlett fever (strep throat) and sore throats for about 3 months now I am sick of it.

You can get strep throat without tonsils. So that does not necessarily mean you need your tonsils removed. Your doctor will know if you need to have them removed. If your tonsils are getting infected often and causing you to stay sick...they will usually recommend removing your tonsils. They can't remove your tonsils while you are sick. My doctor gave me a very strong penicillin shot (supposed to last 30 days) to help me get well before he removed my tonsils. I never had strep. I had very enlarged tonsils and kept getting tonsillitis and stayed sick!

you should ask your doctor if your tonsils need to come out. it very hurts very badly the older you are.

if your tonsils are huge they would consider taken them out because it can block your throat and you wouldnt be able to breath and also if you get consistant sore throats and strep they should take them out so research a specialist that is in your area and make an appointment so that they could see whats up with your tonsils.

yes i was sick for two years and then the drs said it was my tonsils have'nt had a sore throat since then see a drand he said its nothing see another dr.
