What is gout?!

Question: medical question about knees

Answers: medical question about knees

Gout is a form of arthritis that is due to high levels of uric acid. If the body is not digesting proteins well and the person is drinking a lot of alcohol the uric acid level can rise significantly. The kidneys are involved and if they are not working well, gout can happen.

If you suspect you have gout, the serum urate test should be repeated once the attack has subsided. Other blood tests commonly performed are full blood count, electrolytes, renal function and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) that detects inflammation level in the body.

A common scenario that can cause this problem is poor digestion of proteins that are first broken down in the stomach, but only if enough stomach acid is present to lower the pH of the stomach to 1.5 to 3.0. If antacids are taken, the pH stays high and the proteins do not get digested properly and the resulting toxins over burden the kidneys and can create the problem. If you add to this alcohol, especially alcohol that contains "lead sugar" that is often added to wine to sweeten it, you will become a great candidate for gout.

Richard Nixon had gout and suffered with this a good part of his adult life. He drank alcohol like a fish drinks water. Before his resignation speech, he had 9 martini's when he awoke and continued drinking throughout the day before the speech. He loved steaks from Angus Beef fed grain in feed lots. A perfect scenario for creating the problem.

Good luck

a form of arthritis marked by sudden attacks of painful, inflamed joints

Gout is when you get too much protein which then crystalizes and sits in the joints, usually the lower ones, like in your ankles or knees. My dad has gout and says it is very painful. You can take medication for it to help it go away. It usually helps to stay away from beer and red meat.

Gout is caused by increased production of uric acid. As it spreads throughout the body, uric acid crystallizes in the joints. This results in pain and swelling.

It's when urea crystallizes and gets trapped in the joints. It can form in the knees, ankles, and sometimes the hand joints (in the case of my dad). It's really mother f*cking painful and can make a grown man cry. Stay away from proteins and things high in pulin (any form of broth). Well, in general, all diseases can usually be avoided by a good diet.
