Help! I forgot what my doctor diagnosed me with?!

Question: For the past month, I've had a cough that has produced yellow phlegm. This happens to me so I wasn't worried about it but last week I started getting headaches and a sore throat. I figured I picked up something from my sick girlfriend. But my cough started getting worse and I was producing grey phlegm. I also had a slight fever and had ear aches and frequent pains in my throat. I felt very congested.
My doctor was on vacation so I went over to the hospital to check it out and the doctor on duty asked me if I was allergic to penicillin and I told him I wasn't. He prescribed amoxicillin and told me to take it 3 times a day for seven days. I get very nervous around hospitals so I totally forgot what he said was wrong with me. But I remember him saying "aha" when he looked down my throat and he told me to keep taking tylenols and advils, take rest and stay warm. I feel like such an idiot for not listening.
Does anyone have an inkling of what I may have? Thank you!

Your best bet would be to have your doctor fax the hospital and ask for a record of your visit. You will probaby have to sign a form giving him permission to get your records, but it would be the best thing anyway.

He will have records of what was wrong and how it was treated, and then you will also know what the diagnosis was.

Hospitals often give you "discharge papers", even when you are just seen in the ER - which tell you how to take care of yourself and how to take your medication. Do you still have this paper? It should say what you are being treated for.

oh harsh

upper respiratory infection

you are suffering from illness, good luck with that.

You must see this doctor again, and this time get him to write down what your illness is.

Call the hospital that you visited, confirm your visit with them, and they may tell you what the doctor's diagnsis was. The y should have it on record.

with a sore throat i would say strep, but, i don't know if there is any phlegm associated with that. Since he prescribed amoxocillan, you must have some sort of infection. So I guess it could be strep after all.

just ask the docter if he forgets tell him the symtoms you have get him to check them out because they might be better or worse then he will give the medicine to ya hope it help ^_^

Well I'm usualy good with this stuff. If no one awnsers your question Email me all of your symptoms and your medication and I will tell you.

You have a chest cold.

-I figured I picked up something from my sick girlfriend. = what is this thing??? you mean you were contaminated from her?
-go back to that hospital again and listen well what the doctor will try to explain about your illness. BE ATTENTIVE!!! you are sicked and needs medication, so what if the doctor will give a medicine that is not for that illness? coz some doctors has a tendency also to fail their duty or get mistaken in medicine prescription. you're not kid that needs assistance. you can understand what he would say. try to be responsible for yourself. no one else can cure you except the doctor and the medicine he will prescribe. if you're not even contented with the explanation of that doctor, you may even go to another hospital and see if the result and prescription is the same.
*i had lymps on my neck before, had diagnosed and given medication. and because i was not sure if this doctor is telling me the truth or not since there is a language barrier between us, i even went to another country to have another check up to get best result. and then i found out the result to be the same. good health is very important, so as early as possible, get healed soon as it might give more damage on your health and contaminate others.
