What is good for dry/crusty scalp? it only happens in winter. why does it do it?!

Question: All right, somebody like me. I go through the same thing every winter. Last winter was the worst. So, I got Selsun Blue
medicated shampoo (hope you like menthol). Then I got Neutrogena-T/Gel shampoo. The first two nights I used both, then I alternate using one, then the next night use the other, ect. Then a RN nurse friend told me I could take a cotton ball put peroxide on it and dab it on the places on your head, you can do that when you get out of the shower (or in) leave your hair damp, not wet, & you don't have to rinse your hair, cause you use a little & your hair is damp. That helps with any infection you might get with the scratching you may have. With mine so out of hand it took several weeks for it to start clearing up. So winter comes I use those shampoos, even if I don't have any signs of it, but not as often. Hope that helps.

It means that it is too dry in your house, you need a vaporizor, or a humidifier to put moisture in the air.

Get a bottle of V05 Hot Oil Treatment. Use it every other week.

cold weather is most likely to blame. you go out in the cold and come into a hot house with the heater running, can dry skin out bad and quick. i would just make sure to wash everyday, not sure of a specific shampoo, but look for one for dry, flaky scalps, maybe one for dandruff.

Nutragena T gel rox!!!

it means your scalp is going through moisture deprivation. get some mayonaise and rub it into your scalp; then wrap in clingwrap and leave for a while/half an hour. then; rinse out :]
do this for a while until you feel your hair is moist .

I have had the same thing and what worked for me was the herbal anti-eczema cream and spray from http://www.champori.com I haven't had a relapse in more than a year now after only few weeks of treatment. Try it: it comes with money back guarantee so there is nothing to lose.
