I contracted jaundice because I was allergic to a medication I was given during an operation. I had jaundice for 6 weeks and it was hell, you have my sympathy. Has the itching started yet? My jaundice was so bad that when I scratched myself (with a pumice stone and still got no relief) and took the top layer of skin off, instead of the clear liquid that usually comes out, it was bright orange.
Anyway, to answer your question, I still smoked. The nurses used to say 'you going for some fresh air again?'
Good luck with it and I hope you get well very soon.

For all medical questions, I have a pat answer. Ask your doctor.

It is lethal to smoke - period

Jaundice is generally a symptom of liver disease. Common reasons include infectious hepatitis, cirrhosis (including alcohol), and malignancies. If you haven't already, you should consult a physician regarding your jaundice.

Smoking cigarettes (or pot) should not cause jaundice, but can harm your health in other ways. These may include wrinkles/aged skin, discolored teeth, asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, shortness of breath, lung cancer, heart attacks, strokes, mouth/throat cancer, bladder cancer, and more. Not to mention, smoking is an expensive habit.

Smoking is lethal 100% of the time, if you smoke, why worry about something else hurting you?
