Will i need another surgery to fix the problem???!

Question: Hi,
I am 14 years old and had a major spine operation in order to fix a slipped disk(akmost 100% of the vertabrae column). I had 6 screws, and and 2 rods inplanted. If two screws are cracked, during the 4 month period, do you think i wil need another spine surgery?

First off, why were the two screws cracked? Was it due to trauma or was it a post-op slip-up? How long did you actually wait until first being diagnosed with the slip disk until surgery? I personally have had three slipped disks in the last four years and have done not one medical procedure to fix it and they have healed on their own. Six screws is quite a number to hold one disk in and I'am sure they use it as a precautionary so if several do crack, you have others holding the disk in place still. Another question depends on how long ago you had the surgery. If it was recent I would say your okay to wait awhile, most doctors don't like revisiting the same site so soon and putting you under anesethia again because with that comes many risks too. I would say wait awhile and if more crack, perhaps the surgery didn't go all that well but if nothing happens after awhile, you should be on your road to recovery with just a minor drawback!
