The CBC and peripheral smear might reveal a high leukocyte count and many immature blood cells. This usually alerts the doctor to refer to a specialist for further tests such as a bone marrow biopsy, cytogenetics and flow cytometry.
They would see the abnormality in the white blood cell count then order more specific follow up tests to pinpoint the cause.
just the blood work i reckon
Leukemia would show up on regular blood work (complete blood count) Basically, Luekemia would manifest itself as as abnormal amount of white blood cells.
Yes,a regular test for white blood cells will tell the story. When you have leukemia, the count is way up.
The blood work can show signs of leukemia, but ONLY a bone marrow biopsy and aspiration can OFFICIALLY diagnose or dismiss leukemia
Midnight is right. Blood work first. Then more blood tests. Then Bone Marrow biopsies. The good news is today more people survive leukemia then ever before.
