My ears will not heal?!

Question: I got my ears pierced a year ago, and they're still not healing. I've tried surgical steel, gold, white gold, and silver. This is my second hole. I never had problems with the first ones. They healed in like 2 months. I clean them everyday. They're sore all the time. I paid so much money for the earrings!! I don't want to take them out. What should i do?

Go to your doctor and get on an antibiotic. You evidently have a low grade infection and a course of antibiotics like penicillin will probably help.

Otherwise, take the earrings out, let them heal and start over!

See a doctor. It could be a serious sign if there not better by now.

Go to the doctor...

I have the same problem with piercings. I pierced my ears three times before they healed properly, and now my left ear is beginning to close. I'd suggest cleaning your ears AND earrings twice per day, and then wearing plastic spacers (like the athletic ones from nose rings, etc.) at night.

maybe some antibiotics?, you should probably see a doc before they fall off! no j/k about the falling off thing, but not about the doc thing :) gl

nothing but my original studs work in my ear and i believe they are titanium. anything else infects my ears like instantly. i have always had problems wiht my ears but honestly, if i leave my ears alone it seems to work better than touching them and taking the earrings out all the time.

clean them with sea salt...not just once a day...multiple times a day....

and clean your earrings in each time you put them in..

if that doesn't work..your bodies rejecting it and it would be best to stop..

good luck.

Have you tried cleaning your ears and earrings with plain alcohol and then applying antibiotic ointment to both your ears and the post of the earring? That's what I did and it worked. Triple antibiotic ointment is the best. Do that every day for about a week and they should heal.

be careful,! you could have lost your ears, then you will do nothing with your beautiful earings!

1) Short of seeing a doctor (which you should probably do anyway), use only gold posts, remove and clean them every day, and use a triple antibiotic ointment such as neosporin with them every day for at least a week (around the hole and on the post before insterting it).

2) If the above doesn't work, do you still have your paperwork from the piercing? You may be able to use it to take some action or at least get a refund if they were not completely sanitary.

go to the Dr. You may have an infection in them do to anything like a not sterile gun, to just your chemistry changed over the years. But they should be able to help

Either the post or stem of the earring has nickle alloyed that you're allergic to. A Lot of people have to wear only nickel free earrings, or 14c gold ... sorry, same thing happened to me.

Have a Doctor, Dermatologist, check you out by giving you a allergy test. It will show what you're allergic to.You may have become allergic to some or one of the metals and other alloys and chemicals used in processing gold, silver, etc.
Try copper. In the meanwhile, just to get the piercings healed use a broom straw inserted in the holes in each ear...use vaseline or A&D ointment to lubricate the straws prior to inserting them. Move in and out everyday to keep them moist and do that everyday until your ears heal about 4 or 5 days.
That's an old fashion method. My ears were pierced with a plain old needle and thread and the straws were inserted for 5 days before earings were put in and I've never had a problem . Let us know how it works.

Did you get them done with a gun? Take them out and let them heal and do it the correct way. If not then see a doctor.
