If you have a blood pressure cuff you could. If you live in the US most grocery stores that have pharmacy's offer those cuffs that you sit and put your arm in and it will read your blood pressure for you.
The best way to check if you have highblood pressure is by using spygmomanometer, It is the one used in checking your BP or blood pressure. a person is said to be hypertensive if the result or the finding is higher than 120/90 mm Hg.
A health center have this type (spygmomanometer), and there is no need for you to pay if you would only ask for a BP (blood pressure) check up.
Symptoms are headache, nape-ache, dizziness, blurred vision, confussion and drowsiness, BUT most often there is NO SIGN OR SYMPTOMS of hypertension.
Some drug stores have a machine you can get tested with. There is a Shopko and a Walgreens near me that have one. You just sit down, slip your arm through a donut like thing and press a button. It will squeeze your arm and show you some numbers.
Otherwise you can buy a test cuff at most any drug store. It will have to have a small stethoscope with it for you to listen with.
The ONLY way to know is by MEASURING your blood pressure MORE THAN ONCE, and preferably in different times of the day and different positions( standing, sitting, even laying down in some circumstances).
You can do that in health facilities, some pharmacies/drug stores, buy your own instrument( for the new models it is easy to do it yourself).
IF IN DOUBT THEN MEASURE IT.
