Is it common for cancer to be cured this quickly?!

Question: I watch Desperate Housewives and even though there is a lot of hyperbole on the show, Lynette was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and was cancer-free 4 months later. Is it common or even possible for that too happen in real life? And would you have to have strong chemotherapy treatments to do it that fast? Or is it just part of creating a story arc that won't drag out for too long?

I had Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma stage 4. It took 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy for me to go into remission. TV cuts time down considerably. Ever notice on crime shows it takes one commercial to get the DNA results back from the lab? It can take anywhere from 3 months to a year depending on the source of the DNA.

I think that in stage 3, she would have been in treatment for about a year. (Also, 4 months is about the time a woman shows when she is pregnant. Did she have a kid in real life while this was going on?)

It all depends on how far along the cancer is when they catch it. The earlier they find it the better the chance of surviving and usually the faster you will survive
