When ovarian cancer recurs, what kind(s) of cancer is it most likely to be?!

Question: I can find very little information about recurrent ovarian cancer, and, as a two-year survivor of Stage IIIC OVCA, I'm concerned about how a recurrence can be detected and what I and my MDs should be looking for.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Ovarian carcinoma has somewhat of a tendency to reccur. Do you know specifically what kind of carcinoma you were diagnosed with or were you just told that it was cancerous? I'd be glad to help youwith any questions you have but i would need a little more info. There aren't any symptoms that doctors can determine are definetly from ovarian cancer. The usual thing to watch out for is symptoms that you have that seem to get progressively worse. Some of the symptoms that could mean your cancer is returning are Abdominal pressure, fullness, swelling or bloating, frequent urination, low back pain, unexplained weight loss or weight gain, and a loss of appetite. Let me know if you have other questions

the bad kind

When they test your bloods they look at liver function and tumour markers.

One of my closest friends is treatment for her second round of ovarian cancer. This time it presented with an elevated CA125 and pain in her epigastric area as well as her ribs. CT Scan revealed she has cancer cells in her bones. However, the recurrence can be most anywhere.

cancer is the mellignant cell means it is a decay of heap of cells becomes useless and damaging to surrounding areas wherever they sperad. One should restrict the recurrence and of course , it is not an ordinary disease which is ordinarily being taken by the doctors. There are seperate hospitals and specialised doctors , who take care about all post operated treatment meant for the cancer disease. Either the cancerous portion is removed and cured thenafter with chemotherapy or by radiation OR incase of plasma only chemotherapy. But in all the cases there are checks recommended by the doctors / hospitas to follow meticulously wihout fail . If it is attended chances of recurrence is minimised

Your doctor, if s/he is a gyn/onc specialist will know best.
I would bet you would feel pretty *non-specific* changes:

Weakness, weight loss, fatigue, lower abdominal fullness (IF recurrs in abdomen/pelvis)

But if a metastatic growth recurrs, you can have variable presentations--anything under the sun, depending on location of tumor met.

*Limited* examples include...
Shortness of breath (if malignant pleural effusion near lungs)
Headache (brain)
Back pain (stress fracture from met to vertebra)

Ovarian cancer, as you know, can be aggressive and very mobile, so stay strong and healthy. Good nutrition, good sleep, rest and limit all forms of stress in your life. Be proactive so you can claim control over your life. Get involved in the interdisciplinary cancer therapies, and stay in close touch with your doctors and nurses. Wishing you love and peace and health!
