Is it a problem to have a little blood with poo?!

Question: We're not talking lots and it's not actually in the poo, but following after (on the wipe). Is it okay if it's a one-off?

My other half occasionally gets this if his movements are a bit dry and says he was told that this can happen if you get a tiny tear. Is this true, or should you always get it checked out?

If you have had to push then its possible that you have given yourself a small tear. As long as the blood is not free flowing and more importantly not dark brown in colour you will be OK.
Ja.

If it happens once then no. If it persists for more than a few days, you definitely need to see a doctor.

you should get it checked out by the doctor..

do you ever get tummy cramps? you might have problems with dis-order.. or things like ibs..

It's not the nicest of things to get checked out, I had to and they had to do an op on me, but regardless get it checked out.

mail me if u want, I'll give your more info.

If it is bright red, then it is happening closer to to the opening of the anus, perhaps hemoroids. If it is a darker red, then it may be something up higher in the intestinal track. Either way, you should have it checked by your doctor.

Quite important to get anything like this checked out by yr GP. Sometimes people are a little embarrassed to have the GP see them about this sort of thing. But I would say please go and get it checked. Its probably something not serious.
I would go if this happened to me, and I hate going to the doctors, but thats what they are there for.

Yes, it's true that you can sustain small tears around the anus if your stool is very hard and dry, which can result in a small amount of blood being present.
However, it's not possible to tell you what the cause is without beeing able to examine, so it's best that you get him to a doctor to get checked out to be on the safe side if it is continuing to happen.

What you describe is entirely normal. No need to get it checked. Fissures (tiny tears) are the cause, nothing serious. If it happens a lot, then maybe he is slightly constipated (stools too hard) and needs more fiber.

I agree with Jason C. My children had this problem and I took them to the doctors who examined them and said it was due to a tiny tear in the anus as a result of straining too hard. The blood was bright red, and not much as you said. it sounds like the same problem.

Yes it is! See your doctor!

Home remedy...
RED= broken blood vessel, up inside your colon which is unnoticeable, which can rupture or tear (older folks called them Piles) or hemmorides, which are swollen pieces of skin that protrude passed the edge. Usually caused by straining because of constipation and often women who have had a child may developed these from the "strain of pushing".
If this is the case The BM will be more firm it should never be actually hard.. This is where drinking plenty of water comes in (water is not just for commercials)
If uncomfortable you may try a stool softener (Correctol)-over the counter, it is not a laxative, it just adds to the ease of the movement. If you have hemmorides and can't wipe all the waste off or it really swollen or itchy, try (Preparation-H) over the counter, they now make wipes and are medicated to ease the itch, swelling, and because of these 2 ingredients will clean the opening. Bathe then shower, Pat don't rub.

Medical= Make an appointment with your primary Doctor soon as possible. It must bug you enough to post it!
He will probably order a (blood workup to check your red & white blood cell count.) He should suggest you to see a GI Doctor (Gastroenterologist) ask questions if you have no Idea.

Remember: Everything you eat or drink must come out, no matter what your diet is. Not all liquid goes into your kidneys to flush into your bladder to urinate.
Your mouth, to your stomach, to your small intestine, to the large intestine, thru your sigmoid colon loop, to your colon and out. That is the layout. Your gallbladder, your liver, your pancreas, are the organs that add enzymes to aid in the breakdown.
This is first hand information. Hope it helps!
