Just how risky is Accutane?!
Question: i'm a fourteen year old male and i have mild/bad acne. i'd rather not have it ofcourse but it's not a huge problem that i have. anyways, my mom wants me to take Accutane.
i was wondering, what are the most common symptoms and just how bad is the dryness? also, what are the odds of some of the really ad symptoms like hairloss and depression?

Let me just say this...I've taken this Very expensive drug.If i had it to do over...I wouldn't ! Miss Jane (above) Is absolutely RIGHT On ! She's listed all the side effects that can and even some i still suffer from today. Please don't take this route. Try a more natural approach first.
It was over 7 years ago and I still deal with dry lips and skin.
The main component of this drug is Vitamin A. Only in a much higher dosage/strength. You have to stay super hydrated. It's only a bandaid.
you're better off taking Vitamin A in an all natural form(gel cap). This drug is very very harsh !
Acne is only an indicator of what's really going on inside your body. The toxins build up and have to come out some where.
We are what we eat. But don't fall for the chocolate thing..That's a lie.
Really stay away from processed foods and eat vegetables & fruits as close to their natural state as possible. I'll always recommend taking a Good pro-biotic.
You're not too young to do a mini cleanse. Like maybe 7 days.Also drink half your body's weight in good water Daily. Steam distilled is the best. Don't confuse this with regular distilled water. I'll include some links to help you. Please don't use these harsh facial cleansers on the market. All they accomplish is making your skin red and more irritated. Yogurt is good for a nice calming mask. Buy the Plain yogurt and apply to cleansed skin and leave it for up to 30 minutes.

I highly suggest that you try other options before Accutane. It is meant as a last resort only. It's meant to treat severe, disfiguring nodular acne. The most common side affects of taking Accutane are:
Bone or joint pain
Burning, redness, itching, or other signs of eye inflammation
Difficulty in moving
Nosebleeds
Scaling, redness, burning, pain, or other signs of inflammation of lips
Skin infection or rash

Difficulty in wearing contact lenses (may continue after medicine is stopped)

firstly, you cannot get accutane, to get accutane your face would have to be completley covered, your neck to. plus it causes depression and is bad for your teeth. you'd most likely be prescribed erytheromycin which is an antibiotic. and some face gels. you have to have very serious acne to get prescribed accutane. I've been using the erytheromycin on and off for 3 years and my acne's really improved.
