Methods for clearing up acne and keeping your face healthy and shiny??!

Question: I've always had problems with my skin. I've tried using multiple face cleaners and nothing really seems to work. I've tried using the sensitive face washers (i have very sensitive skin) but that doesn't work either. Does anyone have any methods on getting rid of acne and keeping your face clean and healthy looking??

I do have one suggestion, since regular cleaners don't seem to work for you.

After you wash your face, wipe down the problem areas with rubbing alcohol: There is a certain bacteria that is often associated with acne, so that will kill them. Then use a good, gentle lotion to keep your face moist.

Good luck!

I've tried various things, and what's worked best for me is using just Cetaphil cleanser twice a day and the Cetaphil moisturizer when my skin's really dry.

Proactiv face treatment

This guys methods work for most people with acne, worth a read

A healthy diet with lots of fruit and veggies works best. Also, drink lots of water. This is the easiest and most eco-friendly way to clear up acne.

depending on how old you are and whether you are suited to it, you could try oral contraceptive pills, and that only when you see a doctor about it.
as far as sensitive skin goes, i would mix rose water with milk or just plain ol' rose water dipped in cotton, and use it to wipe your face atleast three times a day. i had severe acne once upon a time, and i found it was related to an eye infection. you never know...see a specialist.
but see how you go with medicated washes, or find simple herbal/home remedies.all the best

i know it's a little on the pricey side but, i swear by proactiv.
i *used* to have problem skin, too. but after using proactiv... now i get compliments on my skin!!
(i feel like one of those commercials, but really, I'm not being paid by proactiv at all, lol!:)
i know that proactiv has a gentle formula too. so you should really try that one out, if you are serious about getting rid of your skin problems. :)
good luck!

Try what my friend calls the 'miracle worker' (slight exaggeration).

I have skin that breaks out, and every morning and evening i apply this tonic, which keeps spots at bay in the first place.

Find a jar or small glass bottle, fill with cool water, then add about 6-8 drops of tea tree essential oil (depending on how much water you've used). Then shake and apply a bit with some cotton wool over your cheeks, nose, forehead and chin.

You'll notice a difference within a week. While it won't rid spots you already have, it will stop anymore forming, as it works as a natural anti bacteria thingy lol.

Do a patch test first. And never EVER use tea tree on its own.

Hope this works for you..I don't usually let on what I use!!

Bear in mind, I find it slightly drying, so perhaps try an organic moisturiser. Try Dr. Hauschka or Liz Earle (Google them).

Also try keeping the tonic in the fridge, it makes it feel more refreshing and keeps it fresh for longer. Make a new tonic every two weeks and throw the old one away.

Good luck, email me if you have any questions :)

well, tell us what you current regiment is
i think cream cleansers work best, but some people are swearing by these new foaming cleansers (i personally hate them, they feel like they arent cleaning my skin at all).

i would suggest (without knowing what you use right now) to get MAC's lightful cream cleanser. its supposed to lighten any red spots, i havent seen that happening, but it has helped with making my skin feel less dry after washing, ya know that tight feeling you sometimes get. after that, an astringent. my favorite is the morning burst one by clean & clear (its orange). and then maybe a light moisturizer (i dont like the ones for acne control, i just get something for oily skin cause it helps absorbe oil thru-out the day). my favorite is by MAC. its the oil control lotion i believe.

i have had acne problems all my life as well. i even went to the dermotologist when i was younger, was on so many different types of pills, even did microdermabrasion. i tried proactive (that pretty much just made my skin fall off - yuck). so i started using MAC since i loved their make-up, and its been the best for me. they have a green gel cleanser, its good too, but i like the cream a little better.

its a little more than what you would spend at the grocery store on those kinds of things, but hey if it works right? and its not like its WAY too expensive like some things

first, buy Cleania foaming wash and spread it on your face let it dry and then rub it off with a wet cloth. rub your face for ten minutes with that, and then put on a lack head pore strip. It worked for me!

All the answers seem to aim you in the right direction as far as cleansers, but be sure to drink LOTS of water too! It really helps clear up your skin and give it a better glow.

Be sure that you are washing your face with warm water and rinsing your face with cold water. Warm water opens your pores and cold water closes the pores. I went to my dermatologist and he prescribed a cream for me to use at night. If you want something over the counter I would recommend Dove soap. Clean and Clear has a spot-treatment for blemishes also. It is clear and in a small tube for only about $4.00
