Poor you - I don't think you are the only one who has had a horrible cold that seems to go away, only to come back worse and hang on for ages.....I have had mine for a whole month now, and finally went to my GP for a check-up yesterday. The cough turned out to be due to a blocked-up nose and sinuses, and she did prescribe me some antibiotics....so do go to the doctor if yours hangs on much longer.

I don't think Beta-blockers interfere with Paracetamol (I am on a low dose of Propranol and have taken Paracetamol OK, but ask your Dr if you are not sure)....in any case, though, don't take more than 4 doses of Paracetamol (ie 2 tablets or equivalent) in any 24 hours. Also, don't forget that a lot of over-the-counter cold remedies also contain Paracetamol, so be careful not to take too much!

Get well soon, going out in the cold seems to make it worse (esp today), but it might be worth braving it to see your doctor.

When I get a bad cold this is what I do......I start taking Zinc and Vitamin C supplements. I also take Alka Seltzer Cold gel caps during the day and NyQuil at night. Drink lots of water and/or hot tea. This usually does it for me.

may sound silly to you but have a few large glasses of red wine!!! it is full of vitamin C and studies have shown people who regulary drink wine are less likely to develope a cold!!!!

drink some hot pepper soup.......

sounds more like flu.

Stick to this: 2 paracetamol every 4-6 hours, drink plenty of fluids. Sleep as much as possible supported upright with plenty of pillows. This is the only way really. All the remedies contain paracetamol anyway. It will go I promise

I'm going through the same thing. Since I can't take most OTC cold medicines due to my blood pressure issues, I depend on hot tea and/or lemon, steam and eucalyptus oil (or "Shower Soothers"). And as much rest as you can - sleep sitting up on the couch if you must.

If you mean u tried the lemsip drinks, aside from being disgusting they are also a bit on the rubbish side. Have a go at the Lemsip capsules, they work much faster and obviously u don't have to endure the rank tasting 'drink'.
Other than that, plenty of sleep time and keeping on the warm side!!! Hope u feel better soon

Hot whisky and some sugar of to bed sweat it out. bingo u will be better tomorrow
