HIV exposure?!

Question: Ok...many of you on here know of my OCD and my phobia of HIV. BUT...for those who don't, I am OCD, and I have a bad phobia of HIV.

I am 19 years old, a virgin saving myself for marriage. I don't use IV drugs and never have. And I didn't get HIV from my mother or father.

I have had 7 tests in one year and all were negative.

My boyfriend is a virgin as well and didn't get it from his parents and doesn't use IV drugs. So really, neither of us are at risk.

I am scared at this point though because when my boyfriend went to go and cash his paycheck, they made him put his finger print on the check....what I am worried about though is what if someone before him that had to give a finger print had an open wound and then got blood or something on it and then my boyfriend touched it after him or something and then touched his eyes or nose or mouth or one of his open wounds if he had any.

Is this really irrational? Is this possible considering that it woundnt have been immediate contact??

HIV is HIGHLY dependent on the body's environment for survival and will not live very long outside of it. Moreover, a mode of transmission you've described is not at all realistic.

As a biochemist who has performed AIDS testing in Africa, who has eaten, interacted, and has been crammed next to HIV infected people in packed buses without fear of being infected, I can confidently say you're going to be just fine =)

You are going to have many irrational thoughts. You should talk to your psychiatric therapist about them.

you have to have sex or share needles with an hiv infected person. relax and look into yoga and meditation for your ocd and phobia's. i know many people who have had great success. including myself. check it out. you can get through this. i was in such deteriorated mental state that the doctors thought i was going to have to live in a group home for the rest of my life... i got through it and i have to say yoga and meditation worked wonders for me.

The HIV virus can not survive outside the body so even if someone else had it and touched the same spot he did there is no way he could catch it. Even saliva transmissions are very rare while they are possible.

I'm sure from the many questions you have asked about HIV transmission: you know HIV does not last long outside of it's host (human body). If, and a BIG IF there, was any type of blood on the fingerprint pad, it would have died due to air exposure and the fact it's mixing with chemical ink.

You really really really need to stop asking these questions and being on the std forum because I'm sure it only feeds your ocd/phobia habit of HIV. I have mild case of ocd and I know how doctors work in trying to wean you from your issue, so you need to speak to them and take there advice. No Matter what we say to you, you are always going to question every risk you take in life with the possible transmission of HIV. HIV isn't easy to get!!!

Please, seek out your doctor and work with them in hopes of getting better.

YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV. YOU HAVENT DONE ANYTHING HIGH RISK TO GET HIV. YOU HAVENT DONE ANYTHING LOW RISK TO GET HIV. You have a better chance at getting hit by a bus than getting HIV at this point in your life.

EDIT: Sorry if you think I'm being rude or insenstive but you seem to need a case of tough love. I have been there and questioned everything with my std testing and honestly I ended up having a doctor get right into my face and told me to seek professional help because I was making myself sick. Seriously, asking us on here will only give you temporary satisfaction and nothing more.
