I have the same problem, esp. when sleeping. It causes a very dry mouth. I wish I could stop.

who says what's normal and what's not?

It is not abnormal, it is probably just a habit. Try to take control of your breathing throughout the day. Make a conscious effort to breath through your nose throughout the day. If you forget and start breathing through your mouth, breathe through your nose as soon as you notice. It usually take a week or two to change bad habits. Just keep at it and eventually you won't have to think about it.

I used to slouch a lot. I would consciously correct my posture many times a day for a week or so. Now I sit up straight unconsciously.

YOU ARE , BUT U NEED TO SEE A SPECIALIST IN ALLERGIES AND PRACTICE CLOSING URE MOUTH AND TAKING DEEP BREATH AND EXHALING FROM URE MOUTH, IF URE OVERWEIGHT IT HELPS TO SHED SOME POUNDS,IF U NEED RELIEF GET CLARITIN IT WORKS GREAT, IF U STILL FIND IT DIFFICULT TO BREATHE U CAN ALSO TRY EATING SPICY FOODS OR HOT SAUCES AS THEY CLEAR URE NASAL PASSAGES.
BUT BEST THING GO TO THE DOCTOR AND TELL THEM WHAT`S GOING ON!!!GOOD LUCK.

It sounds like this could be an adenoid problem . Check out this link http://ca.search.yahoo.com/search?ei=UTF...

You need to have a checkup from an otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose & Throat doctor). He/she will be able to determine why you can't breathe out of your nose normally.
