I had an EKG done yesterday for heart palipitations. No one has told me anything!

Question: I went to the dr. b/c I had fluttering in my chest. He sent me to the hospital to get an EKG and a chest CT Scan because he said I was having palipitations. I am 25. He said not to be scared, but I kinda am. No one gave me any results and they are still happening today. This is day 3 now. I have to go for a Halter Monitor on Monday. Does anyone have any experience with this? My mom mentioned something about a mitral valve prolapse that runs in my family...Just any thoughts would be appreciated...

they should have gave you a read out as soon as it was done. I have a kidney disease and I use to have panic attacks because I didn't know what was going on heart fluttered. I would stay away from caffiene see if that helps also if you worry about whats going on to much it will probably make it worse. Just trust that God will take care of you. peace

results can take 3 - 10 business days. but if they saw anything urgent you would have heard from your doctor. no new is good news.

Rad tech's aren't authorized to give out the results to the patient, they have to come from your doctor. If there was anything on it that concerned them, they would call your doctor and discuss it with him and then he would let you know himself.

Most palpitations in younger people are benign which means they cause no problems with your heart. Stress and anxiety can make palpitations worse. Also, there is a term called cardiac awareness which means you are paying more attention to them and thus, are more aware of them and often, this makes it worse also. Ignoring them often will make them go away or at least less noticeable. You are doing the right thing by getting it checked out. The Holter Monitor should give you the final answer as to whether these are of any significance or not.
