Is being very forgetful a symptom of some sort of illness? i'm 23 years old.!

Question: Short term? I'm incredibly forgetful, things I meant to do 5 mins ago or have written reminders for myself everywhere...
I'm told stress and/or worry affect short-term memory because they use the same area of the brain. No illness involved most likely.

I'm 22.

You could have early onset alzheimer's. But, the more likely case is that you are young, busy (maybe in college), and its hard to keep track of everything when you have so much going on. I would suggest a day planner. Forgetfulness can also be signs of depression, which is common in the winter months. Its nothing that 20 mg of prozac can't take care of.

Isn't that frustrating. Perhaps try doing things that change your routine a little, even if it is brushing your teeth with the other hand, same with brushing hair or washing yourself etc etc. Get the brain learning something new or different and these little things are a start. Also I have read when you do forget something, eg go to a room for something and don't remember what it was...stay there, don't leave, look around and wait for it to come back.
