There's been some recent changes to the exact #. It used to be 110mg/dl but has recently changed to 100mg/dl. Most people without diabetes (or the threat of insulin resistance) have fasting sugars in the 80-90 range and A1C's definitely less than 6 and most likely less than 5.5.
My diabetes is under very good control. For me the longer it has been under control (A1C<6), the more the fasting sugars have gone down...from 135 to 120-125.
To me it shoulds like you have Metabolic syndrom. A higher than 6 A1C, low HDL level, and high lipids #'s.
70 to 99 mg/dL normal
100 to 125 mg/dL pre-diabetes
126 mg/dL and above is considered as diabetes
mg/dL is the unit used in canada and us, international used mmol/L. the conversion is 1mmol/L = 18mg/dL
so 126/18 = 7 mmol/L
therefore 7 mmol/L and above is considered as diabetes. yours is 6.57 not quite as having diabetes.
