yes it kills in a week.some survive but lots of them dont. but not all mosquitos have that. i think they call that "dengue fever" i have been always bitten by mosquitos everyday and luckily im still alive :)

yes

never herd that one it is probably true though.

not heard anything like that before! only thing you can really catch is maleria, thats a horrible disease but it is curable if you catch it early.

edit to add:
Actually i've just found this:
http://www.cdc.gov/NCIDOD/DVBID/DENGUE/d...

malaria kills more people every year than any other single thing .......scary fact , sorry
check where you are going , if there is malaria risk wear loose clothes at sun rise & set & use 50%deet /water mix on your skin

To my knowledge, Mosquito bites can carry a wide range of diseases, especially depending on where you live in the world . I'm going out on a limb here and saying that you must mean dengue fever. Dengue fever does not have a medical cure, you are right. The only thing to do is to treat the symptoms. Yes these symptoms may be fatal. It can only be prevented with bug spray, netting, etc. There is only a high risk in certain parts of Asia and Africa (you can get it elsewear, but its pretty rare). Note, some people can recover if the symptoms are managed.

Dengue (is the correct word)
with good medical management, mortality due to DHF (Dengue hemorrhagic fever) can be less then 1%
there is no specific medication for DHF. it can however be treated by fluid replacement therapy if a early clinical diagnosis is made.

here is a site about it
http://www.cdc.gov/NCIDOD/DVBID/DENGUE/

If your talking about Dengue Fever, which is transmitted by mosquitoes, then it isn't always a death sentence.

There isn't a cure per say, but ones own immune system can fight off the disease if you have a healthy one, and increase the amount of fluids you intake. In fact, most people do survive it:

2005 Dengue Outbreak:

Country Cases Deaths

Costa Rica 19,000 1
India 90,000 15,000
Indonesia 80,837 1,099
Malaysia 32,950 83
Martinique 6,000 2
Philippines 21,537 280
Singapore 12,700 19
Thailand 31,000 58
Vietnam 20,000 28
Pakistan 4,800 50

Most of the people who die from it, don't have access to clean water and medical facilities that can help monitor the illness and administer IV's if necessary.

They is no cure for Dengue but by no means does everyone who gets it die (I've had it once). It is unusual in that it is actually more dangerous the second time you get it. The mosquitoes that carry it are often found in small water containers like oil drums and are predominatly found in urban rather than rural areas. It is generally on the increase as urban areas in the tropics are expanding.
