A normal glucose level is between 70 and 140. A normal a1c level is 7% or less. Your numbers are fine.

You should be fine. 99 is good. A1C is good at 5.4 also.

thats normal... duh

range is 80-120!!

A fasting glucose of 126 mg/dl or higher is diagnostic of diabetes. Anything less than that is not diabetes.

Normal glucose level ranges from 70-99 mg/dl
Pre-diabetes is 100-125
Diabetes is anything greater than 126

YOU ARE FINE!
Eat healthy, exercise and don't stress about this!

I should be so lucky....those are really good numbers...

I can see why you are confused. Diabetics often have a bg of 99 and a1c of 5.4, when they have tight control over it.

BUT that doesn't mean that everyone with those numbers is diabetic or even pre-diabetic.

Go with your doc's advice. Your numbers are perfectly normal. And for diabetics with those same numbers, then they are doing a great job controlling their blood sugar.

Duh I am a pre diabetic with insulin resistance and reactive hypoglyciema. My endo and my pcp both agreed with me going on metformin. My fasting glucose before the 3hr test was 100. My endo told me that is an impaired fasting glucose. I say keep asking him about the test.

99 blood sugar is perfectly normal. The last 2 times I have had an A1C it was 6.1 and my doctor was very happy with that.

You are absolutely in the normal range. Our doctor told us that 60 - 120 at fasting was normal. Your A1C number is also great. So why are you so concerned? Trust your doctor. I am sure if he thought you had a problem, then he would run whatever test he thought was necessary. If you don't trust your doctor, then you might want to get a second opinion.

I'm sending you some things that our doctor wrote in a magazine that will help non diabetic to keep from becoming a diabetic.

Dr. Jay Dey said, " Diabetes prevention is both possible and powerful. Studies show that people at high risk for type 2 diabetes can prevent or delay the onset of the disease by taking these simple steps."

1. Watch your waistline, belly fat is probably the root cause of insulin resistance and many of the problems we see with metabolic disorders, including diabetes.

2. Eat healthier, including healthy grains, good fats, with portion control.

3. Exercise, he recommends 45 minutes a day 5 days a week.

Everybody means well and wants to help on Yahoo Answers. I would not take any ones advice over my doctor. We are not trained like he is, we can tell you our experiences with diabetes or not, but everyone is different. These recommendations that I listed above came from my husband's endocrinologist, so you can rest assured that they are correct.

Good luck and take care of your health. You will be ok.

Your numbers are fine, very normal. Don't go looking for trouble that isn't there. Enjoy your health. Normal a1c is anything below 6.
