Can the Human cold/flu be passed onto animals like other humans.?!

Question: if not...why not?

Answers: if not...why not?

They say no - different strains and different ways of fighting of the strains. But if you ask me, I think it is possible. Last week the my kitties and two legged daughters all passed around a cold. I also had a cat who had chronic sinus infection, a birth defect, and if I were sick he would become sick as well. So I had to limit contact when I was sick for the poor little guy.

I have been told that certain birds can catch your cold. When I was growing up, we had cockatiels and we always made an effort not to breath on them when we were sick...

I don't think that they can be passed onto most animals and cause them to be ill simply because they are exposed to a much more varied amount of germs to us so their immune system is much more effective.

I suppose they could carry the illness though... like someone with a cold sneezes all over a dog and the dog goes and licks someone in the street and passes the germs to them.

I've never noticed a pet having a blocked nose etc in all my childhood of keeping several pets...

yes...I was messing about with my cat and pretented to give her mouth to mouth and I gave her a cold in her eye....85 dollars for that stupidity....vet bill
