If your in pain or are ill of any kind?!

Question: could that make your fasting glucose ( other labs) higher?
Or abnormal

Answers: could that make your fasting glucose ( other labs) higher?
Or abnormal

My blood is ALWAYS higher when I am sick. Even when I took no medicine for the flu (well, I still took insulin, I mean additional meds). But when I take meds for colds, and other illnesses (like when my asthma is bad, I need to take steroids for it), my blood goes up with those also, much higher. So I think sickness does it, but meds worsen it even more.

If you in pain i would get it checked out and see if it is makeing it higher. I would say it could.

that depends on how serious it is or if it's been going on for along time. And you have to know the thing that cause it or could cause it to happen

Generally only SEVERE illness, such as being in an intensive care unit or being treated for cancer will caused markedly high/abnormal fasting readings. In young children, sometimes a viral bug *will* cause a random higher than normal reading. That said, it will be mildly elevated, not at dangerous levels.

Anything else more than likely indicates diabetes, or a tendency for diabetes (More than likely Type 2 diabetes).

It really depends on how high your reading was, and how sick you were. In general, unless any of the above applies to you, you are on certain medication, or have a health condition that can cause secondary high blood sugar like hyperthyroidism, a high fasting level generally indicates diabetes or pre-diabetes.

The only thing you can do is follow up your result with your doctor. Assuming you have Type 2 diabetes (the common form usually (but not always) linked to obesity), you can make big lifestyle changes that may help you prevent the disease from progressing further. They key is to make these changes as soon as possible.

Also check to make sure none of your medications (like anti-depressants or steroids) are causing your high blood sugars.
