My parents think I'm full of it?!

Question: I have various problems with my health. Last year I was diagnosed with athleticly endured asthma and Supr
ua ventricular techacardia ( SVT, a rare heart condition, I had to go to childrens hospital for this one) . But idk why, when I first mentioned the symptoms from these things, they didnt believe me. And they never do. Ever. Then it got serious, so they took me to the doctor, and then they tookme seriously when they found out my lungs constrict when i exercise, and 2 extra muscles that could put me in a coma. This of course interferes with my sports, and now I'm developing anemia because of my period ( which is incredibly bad because of yet another health problem) and this causes me to be dizzy aLoT AND intersecting rowth plates in my back ( I can't even sit for 5 min. Without pain) could lead to scoliosis. now of course, my parents think I'm full of it again. They won't take me seriously, and I'm really concerned aboutmy health and they won't believe me! I dont want to hurt myself!

if you have to, you can set up your own doctors appointment and have someone else drive you, such as another relative.

or just tell your parents you aren't lying about this, since you weren't lying about your other problems. why wouldn't they trust you this time you know? since you were right last time.

Sometimes its hard for people who have no health problems to really understand someone who does. Perhaps you have a friend whose parent can take you to see your doctor. And, don't let up on your parents. Sometimes it takes a while for things to sink in for people.

The problem is, where you live. There are different health care systems so I wouldn't know what your deal is.
My advice: tell a different trusted adult. They can take yo uto the doctor's, or a walk-in clinic if they find it necessary. Like say, a teacher at school. They'll at least advice your parents on the proper course of action if they find the problem serious.

It was the same with me, no-one believed it when I was getting tired because of the anaemia, but when I went to the chemists, they recognised it straight away with the physical sympotom.s Go to a pharmacy and speak to them and try to get your won doctors appointment. I have my own medication, well two, I have to take, Ferrous Iron tablets and Vitamin C dissolvable powder in drinks. Its really annoying, interferes with everything you do. You should get your parents to realise that its not you mucking around. Tel la friend or an adult you trust in your family or at school, they should help you and then they can tell your parents.

I think Babsie is right when she said that people without problems don't understand those that do have them. My parents were the same with me. They though that many problems kids have are "growing pains" or something like that. And you know, they are right.

Its hard to tell when something goes beyond "growing pains", though. As Korrine said, you could say that you have a pretty good track record of knowing what's a problem and what's not. You know your own body pretty well and you didn't lie before. One last thing might be to say that getting a doctors' appointment isn't that big a deal and it would be good to get your back looked at.

As a parent, going behind your parent's back just doesn't sound right. Yes, you could do that, but your parents do love you and try their best to take care of you. It would hurt me greatly if my daughter went behind my back. It brings up some serious trust issues. (Yes, I know, I know. Trust goes both ways.) But parents have a great deal of life experience. Their opinions aren't always right, but they do the best they can. Keep working with them to get your issues checked.
