It's important to know how your breasts normally look and feel, so you'll be able to tell if there are changes later. You should start doing breast self-examinations once a month in your late teen years (18 to 20 years old). This will help you know your breasts. You will then be able to notice any new or different lumps. Remember, some lumps are normal, but if you are concerned, talk to your health care provider.

You should do breast self-exams at the same time every month. Right after your menstrual period ends is the best time. Another great time to do an examination is the day after you have seen your health care provider for a check-up, and he or she has said that your breasts are healthy. Then you'll know that all the "lumps" you feel in your breasts are just normal glands. Breast self-exams are a great way to keep track of the health of your breasts.

Self exams are helpful. See a doctor regularly.

I would be really really young if you had it. normaly you can feel a lump or something in your breast when you have it. If you think you have breastcancer because your breasts are hurting, don't panic. Its very common that your breasts hurt at this age. they are still growing which cause them to be sensitive and hurt. don't worry about it. its very unlikely you have breast cancer at this age. but since it does run in the family just do a self-check up so now and then by checking for a lump. good luck

No doctor would order a mammogram on a 13 year old.

If the breast cancer in your family has been found to be hereditary, and if one of your parents has the faulty gene, then tests will be arranged for you at the appropriate age - which will not be for many years yet.

Breast cancer in a girl your age, even with a family history, is far too rare for you to be worrying about. Try not to worry without cause.

You are actually too young but cancers do not descriminate against age. Eat a well balanced diet consisting of fresh fruits, raw vegetables, wholegrains and nuts. My mother had breast cancer as well, and so far i've had 2 mamograms that have shown no signs of cancer. However, 5 years ago I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer papilary and follicular cancers. Since then I've changed my diet entirely and I have learned diet plays an important role in cancer prevention....Add organic foods wherever possible....
