If someone with a pneumothorax/sucking chest wound fell into the water, what wou!

Question: Would the water get sucked in? How would it affect their chances?

Answers: Would the water get sucked in? How would it affect their chances?

The water would go into the wound.

This would make things worse.

I think they lung would suck the water in and they might possibly drown

I PROMISE. YOU WOULDN'T BE WALKING AROUND WITH A SUCKING CHEST WOUND. YOU'D HAVE A CHEST TUBE. BUT IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE A PNEUMO WITHOUT IT BEING OPEN. HYPOTHETICALLY, WATER WOULD GET SUCKED IN ON INHALATION AND THEY'D DIE. CAN'T OXYGENATE WET LUNGS.
