Is it true you can only catch herpes by direct skin to skin contact?!?!

Question: It states you can only catch herpes by direct skin to skin contact, so how is it possible to catch herpes from yourself when you have a cold sore and you touch down in your private area? It doesnt make sense! if you do that, is it guarenteed you will get herpes??

Auto-innoculation (spreading it to yourself, for example genitally) is rare, and usually occurs when someone has a new herpes infection on their mouth, because otherwise the antibodies in your blood protect against this happening.

Herpes only survives a very few seconds outside the body, which is why it is not spread on inanimate objects - it dies too soon. But sometimes it gets spread to the eyes from the mouth - people touch their codl sore and then rub their eye immediately after within a second or two, and it spreads. And sometimes very rareyl it can be spread from the mouth to the genitals. This is particularly true of people who use saliva for lubrication as they touch their genitals immediately after and the damp helps the virus survive.

It is by no means guarenteed though. As I stated, it is very rare, and normally happens to people who have only just caught the virus on their mouth.

So for safety's sake, don't ever touch a cold sore and touch your genitals or eyes! Particularly the eyes. Ocular herpes is extremely unpleasant.

Look it up.Wash the hands.Don't touch.
