Help me ease my concerns.?!

Question: Doctors have kept telling me that I have a possible Conversion Disorder, in which if my mind thinks I have a problem, then that problem will eventually happen.

For Example... If my mind thinks I'm having breathing difficulties, and I rarely feel a single thump in my chest, even though I don't have my Hand over my Heart, I'll think it's unusal, I'll start to panic (mentally), then I'll start taking in deep breaths, inevitably causing me to think that I'm having breathing problems or heart problems.

Here's the thing though, I've been to Doctor's twice recently, I've worn a heart monitor for a day and I'm absolutely fine. I'm just worried that if I think about it enough, I may actually start having heart problems / breathing problems in relation to the Conversion Disorder.

Is it possible?

I mean I've been told I'm as healthy as the other average person, but my mind tells me otherwise, and if I keep having these thoughts, I'm worried these problems may actually occur...

Been there, done that...I've never heard of panic or anxiety actually causing a real problem like heart failure or suffocation. The problem is that in your mind you can't tell the difference and so you become unable to calm yourself down. Counseling can help, but until you accept that sometimes your body just feels off and that doesn't mean you are sick, you will continue to have these problems. Be as healthy as you can be, and try not to go online looking for diseases that you could have. I know it never makes things better. I don't think you have conversion disorder, I think you have health anxiety, which causes you to panic when your body seems "off." You can have physical problems stem from anxiety, but as a general rule, stress cannot kill you.

This is a misdiagnosis. Conversion disorder happens to people who have had trauma (like rape) and can't cope, and later in life "convert" the psychological stress into a neurologic or other symptom that they can better handle.
What you might have instead is called "somatization disorder", which essentially means that you can't stop thinking about your body, and all the funny little symptoms that most people take for granted and ignore. People with somatization disorder are usually convinced that there is something wrong with them that no doctor can find. The best treatment in my opinion is to find a doctor that you can see every 6 weeks for reassurance, while you yourself take biofeedback classes.

As above but also try to meditate or do gentle excerices to try and relieve your pent up worries and stresses. Trying to relax will ease your concerns. Also try a new hobby which will help keep your mind off these problems.

Good Luck!

Perhaps a therapist is what you need. Having someone to talk to on a weekly (or even more frequently at first ) basis may help you through this rough time. You must also continue seeing a doctor, or psychiatrist, there are lots of medications out there that are helpful, but only you and your doctor can make those decisions. Good luck!
