Question...?!

Question: Yesterday I found out that I have herpes. I never would have known that I had it if I didn't request that I be tested for it and other STD's at my papsmeare. I DO NOT outbreak. I never have... EVER.

Here is my thing, I want to be responsible about it. I am married and although my husband and I have had un-protected sex MANY times, now that I know what I have, I do not want to have unprotected sex until after he is tested. Because if somehow he does not have it- I dont want to give it to him. There is always that chance that I got it from him but we will never know.

The thing is- he is REFUSING to wear protection. We have been trying to concieve (before this) and he is insisting that he doesnt care if he gets it or not. He still wants a baby- I dont want him to get it if he doesnt have it.

What should I do?
He will be tested this week

Up to 90% of people who have herpes never have symptoms. They are like you- shocked to find out. Most likely your husband already has it. If neither of you were virgins, it is impossible to say who had it first.

Usually, you are not contagious unless you are having an outbreak, but it is possible to shed the virus at other times as well. I got it from my husband and he'd supposedly never had an outbreak. If you want to have a child, you are going to have to take that chance. The child will not be born blind. That is ridiculous! At least 25% of women have herpes and millions of them are giving birth to healthy babies every year! Herpes is not passed through bodily fluids; the only way a baby can get herpes from its mother is if the mother is having an outbreak during vaginal birth. If the doctor suspects an outbreak, they can do a c-section to insure the baby is not exposed in any way.

No condom can completely protect your husband because herpes is spread through skin on skin contact. Even with a condom, any uncovered area like the testicles can come in contact with you and be potentially exposed. Though you usually aren't contagious without an outbreak, there is always that tiny possibility.

I have a feeling he will test positive as well, but if for some reason he doesn't, you are pretty safe without an outbreak, but if you take a preventative drug like valtrex can cut his chances even more.

if he doesnt want to be protected, make him hold out for the week, and talk to your doctor about what you can take for the herpes, and how to have a baby safely without it being affected aswell

But you can get herpes even using protection

how did you get it, after all this is an STD, so has one of you been sleeping with someone else???? STD's don't just appear!!!!
i would NOT get pregnant whilst you have this because the baby can get it and it is NOT nice for a baby to have this, if it contracts it at birth then it can cause blindness in the baby. would you want this for your baby??

give it all to GOD is all i want to say and i hope the two of you can work things out

Have sex already, hes your husband. You can get herpes from a cold sore & if you never break out chances are you'll never pass it. you can only contract a couple days before, and after a break out & of course durring the break out. Now when you get pregnant tell your doc, you may have to do a c-section. I heard 1 time that over half of the population has herpes wheather down below or just a cold sore. Don't get stressed out over this because that will cause an outbreak. Take Lysine for herpies or coldsores. Also I used to work beside a nurses office at a college so I would hear alot about std's & I think they are testing a vaccine so maybe your husband could get that. But if your husband isn't worried about it you shouldn't be either, its noe like it hiv its just a cold sore in a different location, nothing more!!!!!
