How do I know if I have staph infection on my finger?!
Question: A wound swab will show Staphylococcal aureus. You need to see your GP, Out patient clinic or community nurse. They will take a swab of the area and send the sample to a Pathologist. The infection will be identified and treatment such as antibiotics (if needed) initiated.
Staph infections often have a greenish discharge and a pungent odour. The healing time is very slow. The area around the wound will most likely be inflamed.
