Eating Disorder?!

Question: I think I have an eating disorder... sort of in reverse. I know I over-eat, and am a little overweight. But I was thinking about it, and I am rarely actually hungry when I eat. I eat all the time and I dont know how to stop. I just think about food and think, "Oh, I'm hungry." or "Oh, I guess I should have dinner."

Any ideas? I'm not sure what to do about it?

I have always heard this called Emotional Eating. Being a little overweight is not really the problem, nor is the fact that you are thinking about eating more often than you should be...it is that you are ignoring (and thus shutting down) your hunger signals by eating whenever you think about food or timing. Do you eat when you are sad? What about as a reward when you are happy? What about after fighting about something? These are all signs of emotional eating as well...you are trying to fill something up inside yourself that is empty (even if you don't know it). Look up some information on the internet and see if the rest of the stuff fits you. I am hesitant to call this an actual "eating disorder" so much as "disordered eating"...and there IS a difference in the two. One has genetic and mental health links, the other is behavioral.

you should eat and go to dr.

It's very VERY simple.

Ready...?

STOP
EATING.

stop and think before you eat something... "am i really hungry???"

drink water (not too much)
eat lots of small meal portions
idk why it works but i found that out my self

this reminds me of something on CSI. a man had this disorder where he never got full so he had to keep eating. i doubt you have it, but eatting can be effected by your mood. when your sad or depressed most people start to eat, if your happy you don't want to eat. so i would check to see what your mood is most of the time when you eat. Then go see a doctor and tell him what you have noticed

yes its problem .So better u can do one thing when u feel like over eating or more times than the required u can take a cup of tea with sugar free which wll kill u r hunger.and u can avoid over eating

If you are a little overweight, you might just have bad eating habits. Sometimes I think, "Oh, it's dinnertime because it's 6:00!" But if you decide to a ton of food, then that's an eating disorder which is called binge eating. Talk to your doctor.

You need to bring happyness back into your life. Find a hobby or something that really makes you happy. Buy some crunchy snacks and try to keep the snacks or ask your parents to keep snacks out of the house. You need to keep busy and get to the root of the problem. You are eating to compensate for something else in your life. You can do something for yourself everyday to celebrate you and make yourself feel your worth.

Actually, you do have an eating disorder (not in reverse).

Eating disorders are anytime your eating is disordered and it is messing with your life.

You are a binge eater - you may find that therapy and antidepressant meds may help you . There is also a free 12 step program called Overeaters Anonymous that has helped many people.

Good luck!

Well I read that when you are hungry it is a good way to curb your apatite and it makes you less hungry also if you chew sugarless gum for about 20 minutes a day it will help to prevent rotten teeth if you like minty gum try eclipse winter frost or peppermint these gums also come in mints
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you should see a nutritionist. He or she can help you to see what you should be eating based on your body type, activity levels, etc.

Also - drinking water helps to satisfy hunger pangs in between meals. If you eat out of boredom, find something to do...go for a walk, play a game of sudoku, or do 20 situps. It will get your mind off it.

Good luck!!!

I have same problem, trying to stop too. What I do is if i get a temptation, just go smell something sweet, like vanilla, coffee, or something. That should satisfy your sweet tooth. also try to stay busy. If you cant do that, eat an orange, usually when you get a sweet tooth temptation it is because you need a little bit of carbs, and orange will help. also before you eat something ask yourself, "am i REALLY hungry?"

as for your portions, try to keep it at a fist size.

hope this helps. =]

That is NOT an eating disorder...that is just normal. It is obsessing over food that may be abnormal. If you do that, go to a counselor who can help you change your thinking patterns to focus on other things. You also could try using an alarm clock.....set it for only 3-5 times a day (3 small meals, and two snacks) and eat ONLY when the clock goes off....see if that helps change the rut you've gotten into.

It sounds like you eat out of boredom to me which is a common problem. One day you should not eat until you feel that you are actually hungry, if your not hungry then don't eat. And if you feel the need to eat something have a healthy snack like an apple or a small salad. But if you feel that you will eat and your not hungry go brush your teeth, because that will make you not want to eat, because eating after you brush your teeth tastes bad. Also you should take up a hobby that keeps you busy or do something that takes your mind off of food. Also drink lots of water because most of the time when you feel hungry its because your body needs water. But if you are going to eat, eat healthy foods with good calories.

Well you should eat
but when you start Over eating
You have to tell your body " right thats enough now
no more"
And keep Eating healthy and
exercising Your getitng over weight because you eat junk food.

go and see a local doctor about over weitness
There give you advice,

thank's

think if you are actually hungry....if your not go and get exercise or do something productive to get you're mind off food

Like any animal, we as humans have the tendency to just eat when there's food around. The trick is occupying yourself with something else, so that eating isn't the only thing on your mind. Don't watch tv, or sit on the computer or listen to music or play video games or going to the mall. That just encourages a bad eating habit. Try a walk at the park, going to the arcade, rollerblading or walking a friend's dog.
It sounds like you're eating because yo uhave nothing else to do - and let's face it, eating is great. Try having a shake instead next time, and put post-it notes on the cabinets with "Are you really hungry?" written on them, just to remind you of what you're concerned about.

i eat constantly its fun isnt it but im normal weight
