Sorry to hear about your mom.
The form of lung cancer that smokers get is small cell cancer. It spreads to other parts of the body.
My mom's first symptom was a sore throat too. Moms don't tend to mention yuk stuff like coughing up blood, as they're too busy being brave.
It can also spread to the brain, amongst other places.
Sorry if I was a little snappy on the other Q you asked - I hadn't seen this one and I guess we all go through things in our own ways.
