Some docs say my dad had MI and some say sudden cardiac failure and some heart attack. Whatever, it is a sudden killer. And you should be very careful. One should do a through checkup with cardiologist (ECG, ETT, ECO) and if problem is detected maybe Engiogram. .. Good luck

yes eactly my sister died age 33 this year from it.

It's another term for heart attack. It's when blood flow is either partially or completely blocked through a coronary (heart) artery causing lack of oxygen to the heart muscle, leading to the death of that tissue. When treated early, people survive.

It's very different than sudden cardiac death. This is when someone just drops suddenly and is no longer breathing or has a pulse.

myo=muscle, cardial=heart, Infarct=death,

A myocardial infarction (MI) is a heart attack. Which can occur for a number of different reasons. (i.e.: burst plaque in a coronary artery, spasm from drug use, thrombus (from a DVT) that has crossed a PFO (or hole in the heart)... etc.)

Acute means sudden. People who have an Acute MI go directly to the Cardiac Catheterization lab from the ER. Here, they will try to open the blockage using a balloon & stent. Unfortunately, sometimes folks having an Acute MI will go into Ventricular Fibrillation, and if not defibrillated (shocked) immediately, may not survive. There are other causes as well as complications, but those are the main ones.

myo= muscle
cardial= pertaining to the heart
it's a heart attack. acute being a severe heart attack.

That is the fancy name for a heart attack. Infarct means a cutting off of the blood supply as in what happens in heart attack.

Heart attack.
