just resist and don't give in and when you are constantly hungry like most people eat a healthy snack,

stay strong!

Camels are really good man, you're missing out

start dippin... that should help you stop smoking...

Good luck bro. You can do it.

i'll give you a kiss if you keep it up!
it's better than kissing an ash tray.

Take a cigarette and put in in aglass of water...keep it next to your bed, beleive me you will quit

drink some coffee

whenever you start feeling the urge to go back to it, remind yourself why you wanted to quit in the first place. all the reasons. and that Nicorrete gum or whatever it's called should help too

GET A PLASTIC BAG, fill it with water (sry dont know why I used caps there) Then crush up some burnt cigs, then stuff them in the bag. Everytime you crave a cig, open up the bag and take a nice big breath in. Try not to throw up though. It works, trust me. That is truely what your lungs smell and look like believe it or not.

congrats man...I did the same thing back in 99 and haven't smoked again...my new resolution this year was to quit drinkin...so far so good...

its really hard to quit smoking, try the smoking gum stuff, dont know if it works but its worth a try.

do you love your kids? no kids? how about a pet? do you love your pet? no pets? then look up "lung cancer" or research whats in the cigs, like formaldihyde and amonia.

you can do it - just find something healthy to help with the cravings - eat carrots, drink juice, do push ups... anything to keep you occupied!

this sucks because it's not easy....
REMEMBER why you quit and remember how expensive it is, how it stinks...and you are worth better!!!!! keep it up....

you may have reduced your risk for lung cancer.
oh yeah, throat cancer.
addiction.
smoke induced asthma.
and all the other ailments smoking helps to create.

and people suffer from second hand smoking.
even very sick children who can't go outside because of smokers.
well think about those children as you quit.

Good on you, well done. I stopped after 40 years and feel so good now. I drank water, in a water bottle each time I had the urge to smoke.

My husband is about to quit completely too. He just quit soda and now is moving on to smoking. He likes to have sex...and keep EXTREMELY busy. I would just make sure you have a job, then go to the gym or hang out with friends. Then watch a movie or interesting tv show until you fall asleep. Try to keep your mind busy as much as possible. Good luck..you can do it!

Just thinking about one more thing..apparently they have a new pill out there that works to get you to quit smoking. you take it and as you take it for like the first 2-3 weeks you smoke with it..and then after those weeks you quit cold turkey. my step dad used it and my husband has a perscription for it. so if you really need help in that way i would go and ask your doctor about it. i hear though that the patches, and gums don't work. my step dad had to quit for health reasons and he said he tried everything and then when given the pill..it definately worked.

although smoking is addicting you can actually stop

very simply put but clicheish Just Do It! make that your mantra, and remember the reasons that you want to stop doing it in the first place!

do a lot of active things that will distract you from smoking. so always be busy. also maybe sun flower seeds will help.

Maybe everytime you want to smoke, imagine the cigarette between your fingers is a turd. You don't want to smoke a turd now do you?

But really, congratulations and keep it up, remember you are allowing yourself to live longer by doing this : )

Congrats dude! I've heard it suggested that if you call a friend, or have gum or a lolly near when you have a craving, it will help you curb them. I've also heard WONDERFUL things about a perscription medication called Chantix. I have a friend who stopped smoking with it. They allow you to smoke while on it for the first week (it has no substitute nicotine in it, it works with the nicotine receptors in the brain), my friend said after the first three days, you don't WANT to smoke anymore!

Anyway, congrats on making this AWESOME decision, and remember YOU CAN DO IT!

exclude yourself from people who smoke and watching people smoke on TV, maybe buy some natural remedies that help with the addiction and not stupid patches and gum most don't work 100% to fully quit. Think of smoking as if you had a girlfriend who smoked and you didn't, would you like the fact that whenever you kiss her that it tastes like a Ashtray, pretty gross.

Find other positive substititions for you old habit. You'lI going to see that temptations are going to be all around you now, more than ever. It totally sucked for me, but I know where your coming from 'cause I've been there. Myself, I quit cold turkey and found out within a month, that I gained a few pounds 'cause I started eating more snacks to subside the addiction.

Goodluck with that, bro.

I know at least 2 people who have quit cold turkey. One a 30 year old and the other a 80 year old. You can do it!!
Candy, nicotine patches do help

It's really hard when you first quit, but just know that it will be so worth it. And you will get to a point where you REALLY don't want them anymore at all. I quit about 15 years ago. It took me 3 times to quit. I quit for 3 months twice and started again both times. Once you're motivated, it's just sticking with it and not letting a relapse here or there deter you from your ultimate goal. Good luck!!!

as long as you are wanting to quit and not quiting because someone else thinks you should or to save money or some other reason than just being tired of smoking you should do great.I've not smoked in 8 years and I will admit sometimes I still get cravings but they pass. You should set small goals like I'm not going to smoke for 1 day,1 week 1 month, and before you know it you've not had a cig in 1 year best of luck to you

the chicks will go to you if u quit smoking cuz u wont smell/taste of an ashtray which is gross. Besides, youll live longer now! Keep it up! DOnt give in!

i work for a thoracic surgeon and 90% of our patients have lung cancer. I've seen the pictures first hand and i read the medical reports everyday. it's absolutely not worth the pleasure of smoking. i can't tell you how many times one of our patients have said to me that they wish they had been strong enough to quit, and sadly this is usually after we have had to put them into palliative care. thing of the extra years you could be adding to your life. it's definitely worth it. Good for you for quitting. stay strong!!
