What is your response to the way the AIDS crisis is being handled today?!

Question: Personally I think the problem is two fold - how the majority religious sects deal with it, and how it has been dealt with by the press.
Saying that AIDS is a punishment from God for supporting/not punishing the 'homosexual sickness' is a ridiculous way to deal with this international problem. You vilify the people who most need to depend on their faith to deal with the fact that they have a highly stigmatised disease.

Secondly because of the recent drugs advances, there is a lack of fear of the disease - health ads in magazines of all kinds show healthy, handsome, active models saying 'HIV didn't ruin my life'. They don't show the sores, the sickness, the bone infections, blindness etc. The only time you seem to see the effects of HIV/AIDS is in documentaries focused on the AIDS babies of Africa - a full life-time away from the careless and carefree.

If you have going to have sex, be protected whether you are in a 'committed' relationship or not. Get tested every 6 months no matter what, just use your brains!

It's one of many problems we face today.

It's deplorable, i think america is happy thinking it only affects gays and minorities when in actuality it crosses all lines, we need to make this a priority .AIDS has taken more lives than ww1, ww2 vietnam and the wars in the middle east combined but yet we ignore it.

There is a very scary development that some gay men are feeling they don't have to practice safe sex anymore, because of new medicines. Just because some people with HIV live a long time does not mean all will.
HIV/AIDS is the most easily preventable disease in the world! I think insurance companies (and other insured customers) should not have to absorb the cost of paying for treatment from people who knew perfectly well what they were doing was potentially life-threatening, just as with smoking!
People with HIV are a serious burden to the healthcare system, and take resources away from people who did not purposely do things to get sick. Practice safe sex!!! No matter what!!!
It's very simple - don't let guys do you up the a*s without a condom! Whether you're male or female, and if you're in a "long term relationship" (whatever that means these days) or not! And don't shoot drugs - Ever!

Well I don't know too much about it since I'm only 15 but we are learning about in bio right now. I really think that people should think more seriously about it and how easily they can catch it when they do sexual stuff with people. Most people I know who do stuff always use condoms when they have sex (but I think its mainly because they don't want to get pregnant) but they can still get it from oral and I don't think some people realize that its really serious. And we read this long article about the AIDS problem in Africa and it is so sad I wish we could do more about it to help them we probably can, but some people don't care.
