Bronchitis/Bronchiectasis...!

Question: i am seeing a consultant who thinks i may have bronchitis or bronchiectasis, still doing the tests, in the mean time i was looking for some remedial cures for my symptoms, sputum with no cough first thing in morning

i bought some mullein from a very reputable herbal shop but it did nothing, not even a tingle, i followed the dosage instructions correctly.Bronchial drainage does not work.i had some antibiotics which were an absolute nightmare but worked for about 5 months.

anybody know of any other Mullein based products or other similar products that might be more effective, maybe a slightly stronger dose?

HI There

Here are some ideas to help the healing process.

Causes of Bronchitis
Acute bronchitis is usually caused by bacterial or viral infections, food allergies, environmental allergies, and environmental toxins. It can also be caused by exposure to cold. Chronic bronchitis can be caused by all of the above factors, as well as smoking and regular exposure to secondhand smoke. Both forms of bronchitis can also result from cold, flu, or sinusitis.

Natural Cures
Aromatherapy:Inhaling the steamed vapors of the essential oils bergamot, camphor, eucalyptus, lavender, pine, and sandalwood can help to relieve bronchitis symptoms. Bergamot, sandalwood, and thyme are also useful for relieving excess mucus production.

Ayurveda: Ayurvedic physicians commonly recommend a mixture of the herbs sitopaladi, punarnava, trikatu, and mahasudarshan for symptoms.

Diet: If you suffer from bronchitis, you need to be screened for food allergies and sensitivities, and then avoid eating those foods you are allergic or sensitive to. In addition, avoid all sugar and sugar products, starches, soy, corn, wheat and wheat byproducts, soft drinks, commercially processed and/or fried foods, and all foods containing artificial ingredients, such as additives, colorings, flavorings, and preservatives. Also minimize your intake of eggs, milk and dairy products, coffee and other caffeine products. All fruits should be avoided if you have bronchitis, especially bananas as they encourage mucus production.

During the onset of symptoms, eat hot, spicy organic foods, such as chili peppers, garlic, ginger and onions, in order to open the air passages and encourage the elimination of mucus. Spices such as mustard and horseradish can also be helpful for this purpose.

Emphasize organic, whole foods, especially plenty of fresh, raw organic fruits (only to be avoided if in and vegetables, nuts and seeds, organic, free-range meats and poultry, and wild-caught fish. Garlic and onions should be staples in your meals, due to their powerful health benefits for the lungs and overall respiratory system. Be sure to drink plenty or pure, fresh water each day (at least eight ounces every two hours). Organic, extra virgin olive and coconut oils should also be used liberally. Homemade soups, such as turkey or chicken, vegetable, and barley, can be consumed in order to help thin mucus.

General Self-Care Measures: Avoid cough suppressants, which prevent mucus from being cleared from the lungs. Coughing should be encouraged in order to clear mucus. Spending a few minutes periodically throughout the day to practice deep breathing can also be helpful.

Herbs: Useful herbs for treating bronchitis include anise, astragalus, cherry bark, coltsfoot, Echinacea, elecampane, garlic, ginseng, goldenseal, grindelia, horehound, licorice root, lobelia, marshmallow root, mullein, peppermint, pleurisy root, and pokeroot. For best results, take as teas or tinctures.

Homeopathy: Useful homeopathic remedies for bronchitis include Aconite, Arsen alb., Bryonia, Calc. sulph., Ferr phos., Lymphomyosot, Phosphorus, and Sulfur. Hydrotherapy: Cold friction rubs applied every 48 hours can help to hasten recovery, as can treading cold water for five to ten minutes each day, which strengthens the immune system. Soaking in a hot bath for 30 to 60 minutes can also be effective.

Juice Therapy: Helpful juice combinations for relieving bronchitis symptoms are carrot and radish juice; carrot, beet, and cucumber; carrot and spinach; carrot and celery; and carrot, beet, and cucumber. Wheatgrass juice can also be effective.

Nutritional Supplements: Useful supplements for preventing and reversing bronchitis include vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, selenium, and zinc. Bromelain, colloidal silver, N-acetylcysteine (NAC), thymus gland extract, and proteolytic enzymes taken away from meals are recommended.

Best of health to you

hey, i've lived with chronic bronchtis since i was born and i always just drunk lemon and honey tea, ate bananas, and raw red onion. The tea calms the symptoms the most but if you get sick then the bananas and red onion help. And always never put down taking golden seal root, ginger root, garlic, vitamin c for cold and flus these things heal the immune system and heal breathing passages. ANTIBIOTICS NEVER WORK!! the lungs just seem to repell them, sometimes even make symptoms worse. And if you get congestion really badly, then breathe in herbs like ginger and peppermint, its sooths breathing, but you have to do it repeatedly, same for the medicines and teas. and youll see results. AND ANOTHER THING!, dont relie on medicines that envolve swallowing like cough syrups, youll get addicted then the body will get used to it and it wont help. doctors dont really tell you this, (believe me)

I understand that you may have bronchitis or bronchiectasis and would prefer to seek an herbal or alternative treatment, if possible.

While I am not trying to discourage you from seeking alternative treatments, please remember that herbs are not evaluated for safety or effectiveness by any US government agency. Therefore, herbal preparations cannot legally claim to treat disease. There is no guarantee that the herb you are consuming (1) is what it claims to be, (2) is consistently potent, (3) is safe for human use, and (4) actually works. Keep in mind that "natural" does not mean "safe."

If you decide to pursue alternative treatments, please inform your doctor. Herbs may affect other medications you may be taking.

Do you even know what bronchiectasis is ? From what you say you have sputum flowing out in the morning with less prominent cough , that is definitely bronchiectasis as cough is more prominent than sputum production in chronic bronchitis .
So in bronchiectasis the lung is full of damaged tissue that becomes full of pus from the action of bacteria . It is almost impossible to fight those colonies of microbes with medicine alone . The options are either frequent draining or better to do open surgery to remove all that dead useless tissue once and for all .
I hope you are not discouraged , but bronchiectasis is really a damaging process and treatment should not be delayed to waste time on alternative experimental remedies .
