Do cold sores always turn into a large sore??? Read inside, Im confused...?!

Question: Okay I had what I thought was a cold sore a few years back on my lip but after finding 4 small blisters on my bottom lip today I looked up cold sores. What I had a few years back I belive may have just been a small blemish. Although I know for sure that what I have now is indeed a cold sore.
So, my question is after readind several write ups on cold sores, do they always turn into a big weeping sore? Thats what its saying everywhere I've read. What's going on with my lip is just a few (4) very very small blisters and hardly any swelling. So tomorrow will I have a huge open sore? I'm confused. I read all about spreding it on and what not so I have all the info I need on that. So where do I go from here? Let it run its course or do you have a home remedy? Thanks!

No, they don't always turn into a big weeping sore. Depends on the individual and how good their body is with dealing with the virus.

Some people can get a big sore that goes right up to their nose. Some people will get a 'split' at the corner of their mouth. Some people will get lots of blisters, some people just get one. My boyfriend gets one tiny blister max, I have to look very closely to see that it is there. Sometimes he doesn't even get a blister, he just gets an itchy tender swelling on his lip that quicky goes down before it even blisters.

I have genital herpes (which I caught from himm giving me oral sex) and the symptoms can be just as varied, but are rarely as bad as they make out. The reality is that for most people, herpes is an exceedingly mild infection wherever it is. The most I ever get is about three tiny blisters, and it is normally less.

I think people recommend abreva, but really you just have to let it run its course becasue it is a viral infection. If it is only a minor outbreak it shouldn't last more than 48 hours from start to finish.

you need to go to the chemist and get some cold sore cream, that will stop it getting worse. as soon as you feel that tingle on your lips, get the cream on it. i do this and my sores never get large or get worse. its not nice having sores on your mouth, i felt like everyone was staring at me. good luck.

Cold sores can actually be either small or larger, and depending on how you treat them can heal quickly or take a longer time.

I have had them since I was a kid, most people carry the virus that causes them, and some people are just more susceptible than others.

I have added L-Lysine to my diet, it is an enzyme that your body produces naturally but if your body is overstressed or you are tired and run down, it will not produce enough to suppress the virus.

Lysine can be found in any drug store, or the herbal section of grocery stores, health food stores and department stores. If I am going to be under a great deal of stress, I will take 1000 mg per day for a few days before and after the stressful time.

I haven't had a breakout in years now, and if I even get that tingle sensation, I will take an extra dose of the Lysine and the sore will never appear.

I have even had a doctor recommend that you can crush up one of the Lysine tablets and put the powder directly on the sore and it will start to dry up the sore quickly and help the skin heal. This does work, but is something that should be done while you are home....walking around in public with white powder on your sore may not be the look you are aiming for.

Good luck, I hope that you find something that works for you soon. A lot of the other remedies like Abreva do work well, but they are a lot more expensive in the long run, and I prefer to treat the problem, rather than the symptom.

i have been a cold sore sufferer for years....they are the pits, I have found recently the best thing to do is L-Lysine tablets. Soon as you feel the tickle, start taking them. The coldsore seems to go so much quicker.
