Is this stuff normal?!?!?!

Question: Okay so awhile ago I had to fly to Portland Oregon and have a major ear surgery. They said I had Cholestiatoma (like and tumor) in my ear canal. The surgery was a success and I had to have a portable IV with me for awhile. About a couple months later I went to a Dr. here and he looked in my ear and started cleaning out this white what he called fungi [fung-eye]. He said it was normal and that I would have to come back a lot and have it taken out. I thought elsewise and sent an email to the Dr. who did my surgery and he had me fly into Portland so he could check it out. Long story short... I have to go in about every 2 months and get it cleaned out and it hurts so BAD!! I want to know if you guys think its normal??

ask the doctor why this is happening, and maybe get a third opinion...there has to be a name for the condition. research it on the internet, find out if there are drops or meds you can take to stop the growth of the fungi..it just seems odd to me that this is your only option...fungi should be able to be killed with like, an anti-fungal medication
EDIT: the other person made a good point with the herbal suppliments. Herbal meds can really make a huge difference when traditional meds can't help. For example, my step-sister has a parasite (she got it in the military) that makes her very sick, and there are no meds to get rid of it. But her mom took her to an herbalist and they're working with some herbal meds that smell and taste horrible, but are helping.
You should really look into it...

Well, I don't think a doctor would just leave it alone if it wasn't normal. It might just be a phase your ear is going through after having the tumor removed. Also, define normal. A lot of people have stuff like that going on, and it's just part of their lives. It's probably just temporary. Don't worry! :)

Don't know if it's normal, but if it was me I'd try Oregano oil and drop some in my ear. It kills off lots of things. Topically I would also try tea tree oil.

For pain I'd take Tylenol, Advil or Aleve...take it on a regular basis so it builds up in your system.

To strengthen your immune system I'd orally take antioxidants like Oleuropin or olive leaf extract; grapeseed extract 95% 250 mg/day; zinc 50 mg/day (helps healing); selenium 200mg/day; Vitamin C 1000mg every 2 hours for a week...see if it makes any difference.

Good luck.
