Sinus infection?!

Question: This may sound dumb, but is it possible to only have an infection in the sinuses on one side of the face, but not both sides? I think I have a sinus infection, but my nose is only clogged on the right side and my cheekbone on my right side hurts. Just wondering. Thanks!

Yes it is possible.
And no, you don't need an antibiotic. New studies have shown that an antibiotic does nothing more than the placebo does to relive the symptoms. Get a good decongestant, stay hydrated, and get lots of rest. Take a nice, hot shower (it will temporarily relieve the pain and help loosen the mucus).

Is your mucus a yellowish color? If this is the case, you may be right.

Either way, I would take Sudafed to relieve the pain and pressure. If you're American, it's only available from the pharmacist themselves these days (the real stuff - that PE nonsense doesn't work nearly as well...) and you have to be 18 to purchase it.

Yes. Just like most people don't have a symmetrical face, sinus cavities are rarely symmetrical too. Try spraying saline into your nose regularly and then blowing your nose really good. And use the best decongestant you can find.
If your sinuses are truely infected you will need antibiotics to fully recover. Otherwise your problem will just come back again in a couple weeks
